Our Races Archive
The results from races past and present promoted by West Cheshire AC, its predecessor clubs, and other organisations are brought together on the pages listed in the purple box on the left of this page. On each of these pages, results are available by clicking on all years underlined. Results from 2007 onward are also attached to the race events in ‘Fixtures & Results > Results Archive’.
If you follow the results of our longest standing event - the Round the Walls race - you can, by inference from the participation of their runners, trace the history of the local clubs in the area – formations, name changes and final cessation.
Thanks to the following for providing previously missing results and dates:
For the Sutton Six: Jack Thomas, Mario Foschi, ‘Fred’ Aird, Brian Beattie and Bill James; Brian Stoakley and Peter Addiscott.
For the Chester Half-marathon: Chris Bennion, Adrian Neeves, Dave Crawford and Fred again.
Statistics for half-marathon category winners were completed with the aid of a scan from the 1983 half-marathon programme from Stephen Poulton, the winner for the first three years. Stephen's 1986 course pb earned him 'only' fifth place that year, as the race was part of the Adidas/ Mars series that attracted runners from all over the country.
There are only a few gaps in these results - see Mike Lamb's request for missing results here. The most incomplete record is from the ladies' cross-country races, where the results for the first and last years, and for 1987-1990, are yet to be traced. Also absent are results for the first half-marathon (1982). Only partial results, gleaned from Athletics Weekly, are available for the 1974 Round the Walls race.
All of the Sutton Six results are now available on this website, but the results for some of the accompanying junior fun runs are not. Yet to be found are complete junior fun run results for 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1987, plus the 1987 intermediate fun run results. Local names who took part in the junior fun runs of 1984 and 1985 have been found in the Guilden Sutton newsletter, The Marigold.
West Cheshire AC and others would be grateful if you can help complete this archive. Do you know the whereabouts of any of the above results, or do you know someone who might have them? If so, please contact ‘Cross Country Secretary’ via 'Contact Us' at the bottom of this page.
